Unity PRC house repairsThe Unity PRC homes were mostly built in the 1950s and were designed as semi-detached or terraced 2-storey homes.
In addition to the typical PRC home issues, such as the concrete degredation and steel beam corrosion, Unity PRC homes also originally used asbestos based roofing. This roofing should have been replaced in the 1980s, but some houses were not worked on so there are still some examples of asbestos in current Unity PRC homes. Unlike many PRC homes, the Unity houses often had a solid foundation, so once they have undergone a PRC repair and obtained the PRC Certification they can become very well insulated and structurally-sound houses. |
